Overview

Morocco's largest city and economic capital lies about 2.5 to 3 hours from Marrakech. Casablanca offers a strikingly different experience: wide boulevards, an exceptional Art Deco heritage from the 1930s French Protectorate era, and a modern skyline meeting the Atlantic Ocean.

This excursion focuses on the city's most iconic landmark, the Hassan II Mosque — one of the three largest mosques in the world, its 210-meter minaret visible more than 30 km out at sea — along with a walk along the Corniche, the city's Art Deco boulevards, and the neo-Moorish Habous Quarter, giving visitors a well-rounded taste of Morocco's most cosmopolitan city.

1. 7:00Depart from Marrakech 2h30 drive — Pickup at your accommodation and drive north via the A7 highway.
2. 9:30Hassan II Mosque 45 min — View of the exterior of this masterpiece of modern Islamic architecture, its 210-meter minaret among the tallest in the world. An optional 45-minute guided interior tour can be booked on site (extra cost, approx. 120 DH / ≈ €12).
3. 10:15Corniche Atlantique El Hank 45 min — Stroll along the oceanfront promenade, lined with cafés and terraces facing the Atlantic.
4. 11:00Downtown & Art Deco architecture 50 min — Walk past Boulevard Mohamed V, its Art Deco fountains and 1930s–40s buildings, among the finest examples of modernist architecture in Africa.
5. 11:50Lunch in Casablanca 1h15 — Free time to choose a restaurant at your own pace and budget; options range from Rick's Café to seafood restaurants along the Corniche or local eateries in the shopping districts.
6. 13:05Habous Quarter 1h — Afternoon visit to this neo-Moorish "new medina" built by the French in the 1930s, home to Moroccan pastry shops, bookshops, spice stores and fine crafts.
7. 14:05Free time — shopping or relaxing 3h10 — At your own pace, to keep exploring the city, shop, or simply soak up the Casablanca atmosphere before heading back.

Best Time to Visit

Casablanca can be visited comfortably throughout the year thanks to its mild Atlantic climate. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) offer the most comfortable temperatures for a full day of walking and sightseeing, with mild sea breezes off the Atlantic. Summer can be busy and humid, while winter stays mild but occasionally rainy.
